Beautiful Summer Lake Union Wedding

About this Lake Union Wedding

M & M wanted to get married in the heart of Seattle, somewhere that was accessible for guests but was right by the water. They scored on a beautiful summer day but the overcast day let them enjoy the beautiful outdoor venue but not get cooked under the hot August weather Seattle tends to get.

M shared what he thought initially a first look with his partner but was surprised to see all of his groomsmen in wedding clothes! After a couple of laughs and the REAL first look, the couple made their way to their ceremony.

This couple included many Jewish traditions into their ceremony but added some fun elements like the Wedding Shoe Game. I had a great time photographing this couple for their wedding in Lake Union!

Top Lake Union Wedding Venues

There are so many incredible wedding venues in and around the Lake Union area in Seattle to consider getting married in. Here are a few suggestions on the top 4 Seattle wedding venues:

1. Dockside at Duke’s

Located in South Lake Union, Dockside at Duke’s gives you that relaxed, water-loving Seattle vibe with a modern twist. It’s bright, open, and feels super connected to the lake—like you're right in the heart of the city, but still steps away from the calm of the water. Their private dock is a dream for golden hour portraits, and the indoor space has huge windows that keep the views front and center no matter the weather.

2. The MV Skansonia

A historic ferry turned wedding venue? Yes, please. The MV Skansonia floats on Lake Union with some of the best skyline views in the city—especially at sunset. It's nostalgic, romantic, and totally one-of-a-kind. The vintage maritime vibes feel cozy but elevated, and the ceremony setup on the deck? Unmatched. Plus, it’s great for couples who want something a little different than your standard ballroom.

3. The Edgewater Hotel

This place is literally built over the water. You can say your vows while orcas cruise by (yes, it happens), and end the night with cocktails and twinkle lights over Elliott Bay. The Edgewater is perfect for couples who want a luxe experience that still feels rooted in the Northwest. It’s cozy, warm, and full of woodsy-modern charm—like a cabin and a city loft had a baby.

4. Ray’s Boathouse

Ray’s in Ballard is a local icon, and for good reason. You get panoramic views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains, plus a light, airy indoor space that still feels intimate. It's ideal for smaller weddings or elopement-style celebrations with your closest crew. And the food? Absolutely worth writing home about (or planning your whole reception around).
