About Your Adventure Elopement Photographer
Special Education Teacher Turned Elopement Photographer
Doug McCulloch | He, him
As someone who always gravitated toward the arts in school and has spent most of my life in the outdoors—whether that be sailing the San Juan Islands, hiking in the mountains, or riding my bike down long gravel roads—I decided to leave my full time teaching career to a more creative pursuit. I found myself following my dream job as an elopement photographer and have not looked back since.
Since my wife and I cancelled our big wedding to elope, and I cancelled what I thought was my career to pursue a non-traditional path, I have learned not only that carving your own path and creating your own traditions is important, but that my greatest joy comes from helping others do the same.
Let’s build some new traditions!
My Why
More Important Than What I Do is Why I Do it.
Throughout my life, I have spent my energy helping others be the best version of themselves and see themselves as worthy of celebration.
I became an elopement photographer to inspire and uplift people so they feel safe enough to be the best version of themselves and feel worthy of celebration.
My Values:
Inclusivity
Social justice is important to me in both my professional and personal life. I believe that all backgrounds, identities, sexualities & personalities are welcome. I believe in body positivity, love is love, Black Lives Matter, no human is illegal, and healthcare is a human right.
Environmentalism
It is a privilege and not a right to enjoy our time exploring the great outdoors. I believe that by following the Leave no Trace principles and taking care of the dirt we step on, we are ensuring that when you return to your wedding spot 10 years from now it is just as magical as you remember it was back then. I want the world to be as wonderful for my child as it is for us right now, and I hope that you do too.
Accessibility
I believe that the outdoors should be accessible for EVERYONE, including those who are differently abled. As a former Special Education Teacher, one of my values is making sure everyone is included and able to share the same experience as others. I will make sure that everyone has access to the great outdoors and will find ADA accessible locations for couples and/or guests if needed.
